Pfizer clinical trial for 12-to-15-year-olds

Maddie de Garay

Full Measure news story on Maddie de Garay

When Stephanie de Garay allowed her three children to enroll in Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine trial for 12- to 15-year-olds, she assumed any side effects would be minor, like an allergic response – easily treated with an EpiPen. Her daughter Maddie was eager to join, partly because a close friend had enrolled already. The $119 compensation per visit was also enticing, prompting all three of de Garay’s children to sign up.((The Highwire, Rigged: Maddie’s Story August 13, 2022, 5:56)) This fateful decision drastically altered the life of 12-year-old Maddie, previously a healthy, active girl who loved dance, soccer, and socializing.

After her second trial dose, Maddie experienced a severe systemic reaction, leading to 11 emergency visits and four hospitalizations over the next year-and-a-half. The vaccine injuries left her unable to walk or eat, requiring tube-feeding – plus constant pain, vision issues, tinnitus, allergies, and lack of neck control.((Life Funder, Help Maddie de Garay get essential medical care)) Despite the obvious physical trauma, medical staff continually dismissed the family, denying care and suggesting Maddie’s problems were psychological. Recommended cognitive therapy did nothing, as expected. The FDA ignored the family’s outreach entirely.

Maddie and her family faced neglect from the very systems supposedly meant to help, on top of the devastating physical fallout from the trial vaccine. But their experience highlights the power of profits over people in some pharmaceutical trials, where serious adverse effects get swept under the rug.

Violation of trust

In an exposé on Maddie’s case, investigative reporter Sheryl Attkinson revealed the girl’s frightening deterioration after the second vaccine dose on January 20, 2021. Within 12 hours, electric shocks shot up Maddie’s spine, her chest and abdomen ached, and it felt like her heart was being “ripped out.”

Her fingers and toes turned ghostly white and ice cold. Soon she lost all feeling in her legs, unable to walk. She began passing out and lost her ability to swallow. Despite Maddie’s horrific experience, Pfizer declared their children’s trial a success, touting the shot’s “favorable safety profile.”

According to de Garay, Pfizer and U.S. regulators dismissed Maddie’s injuries outright, failing to properly record them in what appears an effort to downplay the severity. For instance, Pfizer described her side effects to the FDA merely as “abdominal pain” in April 2021,((The Highwire, Rigged: Maddie’s Story August 13, 2022, 1:04)) though Maddie was wheelchair-bound and couldn’t swallow.

Maddie was eventually diagnosed with chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP) – a rare autoimmune disease destroying nerve sheaths. Yet Pfizer, the FDA, and CDC never offered medical or financial assistance. Even more egregious is that as of November 2021 Pfizer, the FDA, and CDA have never spoken with or attempted to speak with the De Garay family.((Senator Ron Johnson Expert Panel footage)). UPDATE: We can report that as of January 21st 2023 Stephanie de Garay states she has still not had any contact from Pfizer, the FDA, or CDC (“anyone from the Federal Government”) regarding this matter.((Fox News report on Maddie’s case, Jan 21 2023 – 0:40))

De Garay admits this ordeal opened her eyes. She once trusted officials, doctors, and hospitals, but “What I thought they were is not what they are.” Maddie’s story serves as a dire warning – the vaccine industry and its allies are callous, with the public as guinea pigs. If you’re harmed, you’re abandoned without apology, let alone aid. Numerous Facebook based support groups for vaccine injured were removed from Facebook.((Fox News report on Maddie’s case, Jan 21 2023 – 2:05))
